Ripped off

Oh my gosh! My mom and i took a walk today and guess what happened? ok we were going to go to a museum place and on the way this guy started talking to us. we wanted to say "oh sorry we really must be going" but we didn't want to be rude. So we let him walk us all over town until we figured out we were going the wrong way and he said, "oh well you shouldn't go to the museum because it opens at 1pm, why don't i take you to the market place i can walk you there." So he walks us all the way there and then when we get to the main street he forces us into a shop. It is there we are manipulated into buying some papyrus for much too high a cost! it is only later we found out that the museum really opens at eight, we could have gone!

P.s to lily, we went to the Hello Kitty store and thought of you because the whole room was PINK!

  1. GREAT job so far, Roxy. Loved the shot of the bidet..... and did you know that being ripped off so early into your trip means that you can now relax; you have been initiated as tourists and gotten it out of the way fast! My mom and I were in Turkey 11 years ago and every rug merchant in the entire country tried to sell us rugs while we were there. What's the food like? Are you eating from street vendors at all? And what's the weather like? It looked like it was hot, dry, and windy from the great photo of you both in front of the early pyramid. I'm so glad you are blogging!! Have a fantastic time and hope you get over your jet lag soon.

  4. Hey Roxy, (this is Don)

I just typed a whole thing and then lost it when I tried to use Jack's account. Your writing and photos make me want to go to Egypt. I never wanted to go before. Be sure when you get to Aswan Dam you think of the three Claybrooks and say "Dam, dam, dam!" three times. Can't wait to see your post tomorrow. DON: P.S. Say hi to your mom.
