So, I am feeling a little better, enough to go swimming in the pool and see the sights. Today we went to THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS, gosh it was so fun! We could only see 3 tombs out of 64, we saw Ramses the I, Ramses the IV, and Ramses the IX! Those were the ones our guide recommended. They were so beautiful, they were all colored on the inside I have never seen anything so amazing. In the movies you see only carvings that are sand colored, but now picture a rainbow splash of color on each one! We also went in Tutankamun's burial chamber and I will tell you all of it when I get home, but all I can say is they had to rush him in there because he died so young so people say "oh his tomb is probably not worth seeing since there is only one room." But, I really wanted to go in so we paid the extra 30 dollars and went in! It was way cool you could see his gold sarcophagus! And, overall his mummy! It was so cool, Tutankamun officially come up to my chin! You see, they have him in there because Howard Carter when he illegally wrenched open the lid of the sasrcophagus he jabbed the mummy in the side! Since he did that he is too fragile to move anywhere to a museum! It was so great and fantastic!
By the way Mark, we were going to go to Sety the I's tomb but it was closed! So we still went to get the picture of the entrance you wanted, sorry!

Hi Roxy,
ReplyDeleteWe are writing this from first period, Tuesday morning. You are amazing. We love your writing. We are glad you can still write and get out while you are sick. Mr. Leister says NEVER eat vegetables or ice in your drinks in Egypt. John Sasso says he is very sorry about your camera and hopes you did not lose many pictures or movies.
Cielle thought it was so cool that you went on a donkey ride. Ella agrees that Hatshepsut is the most awesome pharaoh. Jade wonders if riding a donkey is harder than riding a mule. Tibor wonders if any of Howard Carter's equipment was still in King Tut's tomb. Nick says yo!
Hey Roxy!!! I miss you so much, it is so much more lonely without you here with all of us. I'm glad you are having a good time, and that you feel better. Today me and Ava gave Libby your lunchbox to take home with her because you had left it at school a while ago. We know how many new lunch boxes you have to keep getting! Mr.leister is always showing us your blog in class. Nicholas [the eighth grader] says its not fair that you get to be in Egypt and that he is going to go next year. When you get back I have some very exciting news to tell you! [you can probably guess who it's going to be about] Love you!!!
